About This Building

Available Units At The Cate, we offer a total of 31 units comprising of various sizes to meet different needs. Our units include studios, as well as 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments. Support for Homeless Families In order to support homeless families with minor children, we have set aside 15 units specifically for this purpose. We understand the importance of providing a stable home for those in need. Convenient Location The Cate is located in the bustling Greenwood area, making it easily accessible for low-income and working families and individuals. With close proximity to grocery stores and restaurants, everything you need is within reach. Honoring Social Activists Our building is named in honor of Rev. Bill and Jan Cate, who have dedicated their lives to social justice and peace activism. We aim to continue their legacy by providing safe and affordable housing opportunities. Eligibility To be eligible for housing at The Cate, applicants must have at least one child under the age of 18 residing in the household for at least 51% of the time. If custody is shared, documentation is required. Additionally, the household income should be verifiable and at or below 30% of the Area Median Income. All applicants will undergo screening for criminal and residential history. Special Consideration for Homeless Individuals For our homeless units, third-party verification of homelessness is required, along with a willingness to cooperate with on-site Case Management services. Homeless veterans seeking transitional supportive housing must be referred through the VA Medical Center staff. Affordable Rent At The Cate, rents are set at affordable limits based on household income. Some units are subsidized by the Seattle Housing Authority, with rent calculated as a percentage of tenant income. Application Process Please note that The Cate does not maintain a waitlist. When a vacancy arises, it will be posted on our website at lihi.org under the Available Units page. We kindly request that interested individuals refrain from calling about vacancies. Amenities Our amenities include on-site washers and dryers, a secured courtyard, a security building, and a parking garage. Public transportation is easily accessible with bus stops nearby.
