The Evolution of the Environmental Simulation Center Establishment of the Environmental Simulation Center at the New School for Social Research In 1991, an innovative initiative was undertaken by the New School for Social Research, resulting in the establishment of the Environmental Simulation Center (ESC). Transition to an Independent Not-for-Profit Organization In 1997, an important milestone in the ESC's history occurred when it became an independent not-for-profit organization.
