Homeless Assistance Programs: Offering Support and Housing Solutions Matthew's Place: Transitional Housing for People Living with HIV/AIDS Matthew's Place is a remarkable facility consisting of 11 apartment units dedicated to providing long-term transitional housing for homeless individuals who are living with HIV/AIDS. This essential program is funded through the HUD Housing for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) program and offers a wide range of services. These include support groups, computer classes, GED preparation, case management services in collaboration with various organizations, and meal provisions for the residential population. Since its establishment in 1994, Matthew's Place has successfully served more than 600 individuals. Luke's Place: A Haven for Substance Abuse Recovery Luke's Place plays a vital role in our community as a substance abuse recovery home specifically designed to house men in the process of overcoming chemical dependence. Additionally, men who have been referred by the correctional system as an alternative to incarceration find refuge here. With a capacity of 25 beds, this facility offers a systematic program of recovery that incorporates support groups, family education, relapse prevention counseling, and a recovery activity center. Staffed by certified addiction counselors, experienced peer support counselors, and dedicated volunteers, Luke's Place has remarkably served over 2750 individuals in its journey since 1994. Ruth's Place: Empowering Women in Recovery Ruth's Place stands proudly as a transitional housing facility created exclusively for women in their journey to recover from chemical dependencies. In collaboration with the Salvation Army-Detox and their 28-day treatment program, as well as the Atlanta Ladies Union Mission, Ruth's Place offers a comprehensive approach to housing women in recovery. The program not only provides a safe environment but also offers life-management support services, counseling, and coordination of medical care. Moreover, participants receive valuable job training and are assigned part-time tasks to enhance their skills. Since its inception in 1992, Ruth's Place has served over 575 women, empowering them with the tools to rebuild their lives. Joba's Christian Recovery Home: An Oasis for Men with Minor Disabilities Joba's Christian Recovery Home is a remarkable facility that opened its doors in May 2002 to provide long-term substance recovery services and housing for men with minor disabilities. Residents at Joba's Christian Recovery Home benefit from a comprehensive range of support services, including legal assistance, social support, counseling, as well as medical and mental health referrals. With a commitment to serving individuals in need, Joba's Christian Recovery Home has already assisted 16 people on their path to recovery.
